Conference
Consecutive Interpretation
Consecutive interpretation is a way of interpretation when the
interpreter is under the instructions to interpret between chunks
of the original speech (or rather, immediately after the original
speaker has completed a few connected sentences or, in most
cases, a fairly long paragraph). It requires no well-equipped
booths and sophisticated wiring system and is the most widely
used form of interpretation in China on various occasions¡ªranging
from formal talks or negotiations (between our Party or State
leaders and the visiting VIPs, for instance) to helping a foreign
tourist to get over his language difficulties in shopping in
an out-of-the-way store.
Quite a few interpreters at BJCIC are working for government
agencies such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of
Commerce and Ministry of Finance, as well as Fortune 500 foreign
companies. Consecutive interpretation is their routine work
everyday. The ¡°decoding¡± work of magnificent and witty remarks
by state as well as business leaders is nothing difficult or
demanding for such group of elite experts. No doubt they can
meet any demanding request you may have for your conferences.
